Aw yeah- the R9.
Yamaha took the proven CP3 platform and wrapped it in a dedicated supersport chassis, giving riders a torquey, aggressive, modern R-series bike with serious stunt potential. The R9 brings more power, sharper ergonomics, and a higher-performance feel than the R7, while still keeping the broad, usable torque that makes Yamaha’s CP engines so popular.
The R9 is still a new platform in the stunt world, but that is exactly why protection and proper setup matter. Whether you are building one for street-style riding, lot, or an all around full stunt setup, our Yamaha R9 parts are designed to protect the bike, improve rider control, and make the platform easier to push without destroying expensive factory components.

The Yamaha R9 is one of the most exciting new stunt platforms in Yamaha’s lineup. Built around the 890cc CP3 engine, the R9 delivers strong midrange torque, modern electronics, and aggressive R-series styling in a package that has serious potential for stunt riders. Compared to the R7, the R9 offers more power and a more premium chassis feel, making protection and rider-control upgrades even more important.
Our Yamaha R9 stunt parts are designed for riders who actually use their bikes. From axle sliders and frame protection to stunt pegs, rearsets, and future control upgrades, every part is built with real riding in mind – not just looks. The goal is simple: protect the bike, improve rider feel, and help you build a sick R9.
The R9 is still early in the stunt scene, but that makes it a strong platform to build correctly from the beginning. If you are turning your Yamaha R9 into a stunt bike, stunt pegs should be one of the first upgrades you make.
A: The R9 has strong potential as a stunt bike, but it is still a newer platform. Its CP3 engine makes broad, usable torque, which is helpful for wheelies and throttle control. The tradeoff is that the bike is more expensive and there is more tech to deal with than simpler platforms like the proven MT-07 or R7.
A: If you are building an R9 for stunt riding, start with protection first:
Axle sliders – protect the forks, swingarm, axle hardware, and wheels
Frame sliders or cage protection – protects expensive chassis and engine-area components
Stunt pegs or rearsets – improve rider control and add protection
Handbrake setup – useful for advanced balance-point control once the bike is ready
Protection should come before cosmetic upgrades.
A: Not automatically – they are different bikes.
R9: more power, CP3 torque, more premium chassis, higher replacement cost. Better capability for stoppies and drifting.
R7: simpler, cheaper, lighter-feeling, more established in the stunt scene
The R9 may be better for riders who want more power and a newer high-performance platform. The R7 is still the easier and more budget-friendly stunt build.
